We launched the campaign "Synergies for Solidarity"

Dr. Catalina Ortiz and Gynna Millan, building on the network of partners organization from the COiNVITE research project, championed the campaign “Synergies for Solidarity” with the Global Platform to the Right to the City, Habitat International Coalition, UCLG, UHPH, University Boulder Colorado, University of Los Andes, National University of Colombia. In order to face the emergency and collectively imagine a post-pandemic future, it is necessary to generate and consolidate a global network of solidarity and empathy. This campaign will create a global mapping of organizations and collectives developing community-based initiatives to address the COVID-19 crisis and its effects beyond the emergency.

The project has two main goals:

  • Making visible, analysing and connecting initiatives that have emerged from different sectors and scales of civil society that seek to respond to the emergency in popular neighbourhoods.

  • Generating synergies and coordinating efforts that capitalize on the immediate response to promote renewed alliances that catapult the integral upgrading of neighbourhoods centred on care and dignity.

The data provided will be used as input for visualizations, computer graphics, videos, publications, etc. that can be disseminated at the community level and that can inform collective action. Are you developing an initiative that could be included in this mapping? Click here to submit your initiative and join the campaign!

This campaign is a pioneering collaboration across civil society organizations to learn from citizen-led initiatives to think collectively a post-pandemic world.
